Dr Simon Planzer

Dr Simon Planzer is partner at PLANZER LAW. The Zurich-based gaming law boutique provides strategic, regulatory and legal advice to gaming companies, payment service providers affiliates, and many other stakeholders including regulators across all areas of the gaming and entertainment industry. The firm’s primary focus is on EU/EEA and Swiss gaming law as well as compliance issues in general such as AML, fraud and responsible gaming. Its team advises also on related commercial, corporate and financial matters.
Dr Planzer is member of the International Masters of Gaming Law. He serves as a frequent speaker at key conferences and publishes regularly on gaming matters. Among other works, he is the author of the monograph ‘Empirical Views on European Gambling Law and Addiction’ (2014) and the book chapter ‘Gambling Law’ in The Handbook of EEA Law (2016) both published by Springer International Publishing.
Prior to his legal practice, Simon Planzer worked on economic law matters at the EFTA Court, the legal service of the EFTA Secretariat and the University of St.Gallen. He wrote his PhD on European gaming law, holds a postgraduate degree in EU law and is a Lecturer in Law at the University of St.Gallen. He did studies and research i.a. at Harvard University, the College of Europe and the European University Institute.
