ALL iGB Live! & iGB Affiliate Amsterdam attendees listed as 'high-risk with no variant of concern' will qualify for exemption from quarantine in the Netherlands

Here's everything you need to know

We are delighted to confirm that we have secured exemption from quarantine for exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and visitors joining us at iGB Live! & iGB Affiliate Amsterdam coming from High Risk Countries (with no variant of concern).

Not sure if you're in the high-risk category? Check out the countries titled 'Travelling from a very high-risk area' here >>

If you are travelling from a 'Safe Area' outside of the EU, you do not need to qualify for exemption and can follow the standard guidelines here >>

A reminder of the event dates and open/close times can be found here >>

There are 5 key things you’ll need to bring with you to travel from the UK, US, Israel and other countries that have a status of very high risk in the Netherlands:

  • PASSPORT: We know it’s been a while, but don’t forget this one!

  • PROOF OF VACCINATION & VACCINE DECLARATION FORM:
If you are looking for exemption from quarantine, you will need to be fully vaccinated OR present a negative PCR test / Antigen test. If you are choosing the vaccination method, remember to bring your proof of vaccination and vaccine declaration form with you to show that it’s legal for you to enter the country.

(If you are travelling from a country in the safe list, please check whether or not you need to be vaccinated to enter the Netherlands)

  • NEGATIVE COVID TEST: To enter the Netherlands, if you are not vaccinated, you’ll need to present either a negative PCR test result within 48 hours before departure, or a negative antigen test result within 24 hours before departure.

  • LETTER OF INVITATION (we’ll send you this): This is for non-EU travellers are required to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival to the Netherlands ONLY. Fully vaccinated delegates travelling from the UK, US and other countries that have a status of very high risk in the Netherlands will qualify for an exemption from this quarantine and so will not have to quarantine.

This does not apply to people travelling within or outside of the EU list of countries on the Safe List.

By 17 September, you will receive a personalised letter of invitation from us & from RAI Amsterdam (we’ll send it to the email address you registered with), formally confirming your attendance and the fact that you qualify for a business travel exemption to the quarantine. Please bring this letter with you to prove that you are an eligible business traveller, and carry it with you when you’re in the Netherlands in case you are asked for it.

  • The first and last names on your pass will need to match the first and last names on your passport (middle names not required).

  • QUARANTINE DECLARATION FORM: You will need to complete a quarantine declaration form before you travel, which you can print and bring with you or keep on your mobile device. Please tick the box that indicates that you fall into an exemption category. In the exemption category box, please write “Significant contribution to Dutch economy,” and in the supporting document box, please write “Letter of invitation from a Dutch business.” Nothing else is required in section 2 or 3.

Why are we exempt?

In view of the high amount of corona cases in a number of countries, the Dutch government currently enforces the following travel restrictions:

(i) a travel ban to the Netherlands from very high risk areas where a distinction is made between area’s with or without a variant of concern
(see https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/visiting-the-netherlands-from-abroad/checklist-entry/from-outside-the-eu);

and

(ii) a quarantine obligation for persons coming in from very high risk area’s
(see https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/visiting-the-netherlands-from-abroad/self-quarantine/mandatory-quarantine).
As of the date hereof this explanation, travellers from the UK fall under the above travel ban (i above). However, there is an exception to this travel ban for fully vaccinated travellers based on the fact that the UK is a very high risk area without a variant of concern. There is also a quarantine obligation for UK travellers (ii above). Please check https://reizentijdenscorona.rijksoverheid.nl/en to verify which obligations apply for travellers from which countries.

Exemption Clarification

The Dutch government excepts a number of exemptions to the above travel ban and quarantine obligation. For the attendance of events at RAI the following exemptions are most likely to apply:

To the travel ban:

(i) Travel ban exemption for fully vaccinated travellers - There is an exception for a traveller from a high-risk area without a variant of concern, provided this traveller is fully vaccinated. This exemption does not apply for travellers from high risk areas with a variant of concern.

(ii) Travel ban exemption for business travellers - The most likely acceptable exemption to the ban for travel is the exemption for a “business traveller as defined in the framework for applying the exemption for business travellers”, which exemption requires, among others, a personal invitation from a Dutch private of public sector party.

For this purpose, RAI is willing to provide the necessary invitation to an event after receiving from the organiser a list of names of invitees as well as input as to the importance of the event at which physical presence is required.

To the quarantine obligation:

(i) Quarantine exemption for significant contributions the Dutch economy - The most likely acceptable exemption to the quarantine obligation is the exemption which requires a “significant contribution to the Dutch economy”, which exemption requires, among others, a personal invitation from a Dutch private of public sector party.

For this purpose, RAI is willing to provide the necessary invitation with an explanation regarding the event’s contribution to the Dutch economy. Such letter can be addressed to or to attendees personally. We ask the organiser to provide a list of names of invitees. Furthermore, input as to the importance of the event and physical presence is required.

Is this likely to change in the near-future?

Unfortunately we don't have a crystal ball to tell us what might happen between now and when the show opens its doors, but the information we have provided on this page ensures you can stay up to date with the correct information, as and when it is released. We can't promise things won't change, butiGB Live! & iGB Affiliate attendees qualify for exemption from quarantine which has not been indicated to change unless quarantine restrictions are lifted entirely.

Is it for anyone coming from a country deemed as 'very high risk?'

Yes! Anyone registered to attend, exhibit or speak at iGB Live! and iGB Affiliate Amsterdam this year qualifies for exemption from quarantine.

How easy is it to travel to and from the Netherlands, and back to the UK again?

Very straightforward. If you are flying, your airline will ask you for the documentation needed to fly. You will need to fill in a Passenger Locator Form (they will share the link with you), and either upload your proof of vaccination and negative test status, or print out the documents in order to check in either online or at the airport. The airline will do the work for you – the process is similar for all of them, but check with individual airlines for their policies.

How do I get my COVID19 test sorted for returning home?

You will need proof of a negative test and if you are within 3 days of leaving the UK, you can use the same negative test for your return trip

What if my trip to iGB Live! is longer than 3 days?

You can get a free test to travel at the RAI Amsterdam – there will be testing centres on-site.

I still have a couple of questions that haven't been answered or clarified properly on this page

Not a problem, Our iGB Live! & iGB Affiliate Amsterdam team will help you as much as possible – but also do use the UK Government website for further clarification on travel information, as well as your chosen airline’s website.
